Austin Kraal Memorial Volunteer Program Update

austin_kraal Sawtooth Society Idaho | Sawtooth National Recreation Area | SNRA IdahoThe Austin Kraal Memorial Volunteer Program is well underway with ten groups committed to the completion of a project in the Sawtooth NRA this season.  Many of these groups consist of school aged youth who are anxious to get engaged in something larger than themselves and be a part of making a difference. The groups have committed to cleaning the banks of the Salmon River, cleaning the shoreline around Redfish Lake, pulling noxious weeds in designated areas, modifying fences for antelope passage, installing signage on hiking trails, planting and reseeding in riparian areas and rehabilitated campsites to “jump start” vegetative recovery, and help with spring trail clearing.  The response from the groups approached has been overwhelmingly positive.  People are anxious to know how they can participate and are excited to get started on these critical projects that benefit everyone coming up to the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.
