The Boys and Girls Club of Magic Valley recently traveled from Twin Falls to Stanley for their second weekend of volunteer work. The group of 14 youth and 3 adults camped by night and volunteered their time tearing down decaying fence and removing low hanging barbed wire fence by day.  Through their weekend of work, meadows are now undiminished by rotting wood and antelope can resume their migratory path without the hindrance of an unbreachable fence.

To the kids of the Boys and Girls Club, the weekend was full of lessons. At the end of the two days, the group spent the afternoon swimming in Redfish Lake and reflecting.

Lessons learned by the Boys and Girls Club of Magic Valley:

“I can work really hard and get the job done without complaining.” –Hailey

“If you clip the barbed wire too fast, your hands get really sore.” –Sam

“I learned I like tearing down fence, and watching the girls freak out over snakes.” –DeAntae

“I learned how to cut wire, at first I didn’t know what to do.” –Sebastian

“I learned I can work hard for 8 hours long.” –Erin

“I learned you have to be careful around barbed wire.” – Savannah

“I learned how to make nature beautiful and how to keep it that way.” –Naomi

“I learned it is easier to work together than not to.” –Sydney

The Sawtooth Society would like to thank the Boys and Girls Club of Magic Valley for another fantastic weekend! We would also like to thank the Redfish Lake Lodge for all the fun water toys.
