The SNRA turns 50 this summer!
On August 22, the Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA) is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its establishment. Organizers worked diligently to establish the area in 1972 “to assure the preservation and protection of the natural, scenic, historic, pastoral, and fish and wildlife values and to provide for the enhancement of the recreational values associated therewith.” (P.L. 92-400).

The United States Forest Service and community partners will host events throughout 2022, with key activities planned for the weekend of Aug. 19-22. Visitors can look forward to forums, field tours, and programs reflecting the past 50 years and plans for the future.
