Your votes are in, and three creative gingerbread builders have won monetary donations for the nonprofits of their choice.

The winners of Sun Valley Resort’s annual Gingerbread House Contest are:

1st—Gnome Sweet Gnome, which has won a $3,000 donation from Sun Valley Company for the Wood River Land Trust.
2nd—Our Wild Backyard, which has won a $2,000 donation for The Sawtooth Society.

3rd—A Very Happy Unbirthday: Alice in Wonderland, which has won a $1,000 donation for The Hunger Coalition.

Thanks to Federal Funding Cuts, Hiking Organizations Say Trails Will Suffer This Summer

Without federal funding and support from agency partners, trail stewardship organizations are struggling to keep maintenance projects afloat.

…”The Sawtooth Society, a small nonprofit in Idaho that partners with the Sawtooth National Forest, announced an $80,000 fundraising drive to hire additional trail workers. In the announcement, the Sawtooth Society wrote that the fundraiser would enable the group to double the size of its trail crew, and hoped it would restore essential maintenance and visitor support after the Sawtooth National Recreation Area lost nearly 50 percent of its staff.”…
